  1. I have had hit and miss results using the 2. Decoding avi to vcd takes an hour or two for a 100Mb file. This is very time consuming and frustrating especcially if the VCD comes ot with naff sound/jumpy video or doesn't work at all.

I'm new at this and are in the middle of downloading the DivX to VCD All-In-One Guide from this site using VirtualDub, TMPGEnc and VCDEasy.

Is this better and quicker? Is decoding a time consuming job with whatever you use?

  2. Yes, encoding is a time-consuming process, basically a function of your CPU and of the compression ratio.

Just a quick one: a method that yields good and quick results is to use VirtualDUB and frameserve to TMPGENC.

The other day, I was resizing in VDUB, adding subtitles and resampling audio from 48 to 44.1hz and adding an audio delay, and the file still compiled faster than through a straiqht TMPGENC encoding!!
