    Hi There,
I have an MKV file that has two sound tracks, Russian and English. Unfortunately the Russian track is the default. I am playing these back on a Beyonwiz P2. The Wiz doesn't handle multiple audio streams well and it doesn't work.
So i've downloaded MKVtoolnix, MKVextract GUI (sorry these names might not be exact but hopefully you know the ones i mean).

I did an extract and got the H.264 stream and two audio tracks separated. I put the english track and the video stream back together with MKVmerge. All seems to go OK and it plays back on my PC with GOM player just fine. I had to guess at the framerate 24fps but that seems to work.

However, the BeyonWIZ still has issues playing it. Is there something I'm missing that is making this merged file look like it only has a single audio stream.

other MKV files i have with english audio only streams play OK so it's just something I've done with this one.

Also, one attempt i made at this the ausio stream was out of sync by a second or so. Maybe i just clicked something wrong on that attempt. Not sure.

By the way.... I am a total noob at this. 2 weeks ago I'd never heard of MKV.

    cheers

  2. There can be other reasons for incompatibility e.g. too many b-frames, too many reference frames, b-pyramids, vbv buffer issues, etc....dozens of other reasons.

Most hardware players are based on the same Sigma chip for decoding and usually the video has to be L4.0 or lower, 3reference frames, no b-pyramids. You can sometimes use mediainfo to determine if your video meets these criteria, if not it won't play. You would then have to re-encode it using a compatible profile

    Thanks, I think.

I am going to get mediainfo tonight and see what its made up of. I saw that program in another post.

However, the Russian version of this played fine on the Beyonwiz, just in russain. I have no idea what all that other stuff was but will keep reading.

  4. Are you saying the russian audio + video plays normally? but the eng audio + same video doesn't? If so, what is the format of either audio (again use mediainfo), as that might be causing the problem

In future, you don't need to use mkvextract. Just use mkvmerge on the orginal file, and checkmark the tracks you want, uncheckmark the tracks you don't want. You don't have to manually enter fps (only if you use raw tracks as you experienced when using mkvextract first), this way it should stay in sync instead of guessing the wrong fps (because it will retain the orginal specs)

I tried this option first and it didn't work. So that's when i started to try and extract them.
