    Can you recommend a converter that is reasonably priced or free? Most I seen on the web are over priced to me.

    ffmpeg(or a gui for it like super). But not all swf can be converted using it, try then a screen desktop recorder like camtasia.

    Yeah - most of the digital video converters will only take the SWF if it has an FLV stream in it (or is, in fact, an FLV renamed to SWF). If the video is the original type of SWF (such as the simple scripted web animations, games, etc.), you'll generally have to do as Baldrick suggested, and use a video capture program to capture the audio and video from the file as you play it... or try one of the payware SWF>* converters, and hope it produces what you're looking for.
    If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
