On numerous occasions my LCD would shut down by itself, but the PC would be still running and I had to do a RESET/or power on/off from the back of PC to bring Windows back and Windows (XP SP3) NEVER complained about improper shutdown and there isn’t any error/warning in the Event Viewer.
On every occasion this happened, I would be using Avidemux to edit .flv files/convert .flv to .avi files, constant/rapid/repeat viewing of short .flv/.avi files with MPC HC (rapid opening/closing of short .flv/.avi files).
I have a Q6600, 4GB DDR2 and Radeon HD2600 Pro……could it be software or hardware? If it’s hardware, what could it be? Video card/hard drive or the LCD itself? Cause if I weren’t doing any of the above, I could run my PC for a few days with no whatsoever problems at all.
Thanks.

My LCD used to shut down whever it got the urge. When that happened, it turned out that the cable was not securely plugged into the LCD. Used to drive me nuts until one day I just jambed the plug in and its been behaving ever since.
So ...... check your cables, twice. Good Luck.
