Does anybody know a good program to convert .vob DVD files into .mov or another format of excellent quality? Or is there anyway to import .vob's into Final Cut? Thanks!

Hi.. I have a similar question...I imported a .vob file to final cut but only the video plays, but the audio tracks don't import...If I just play the DVD, everything works fine including audio... Do I have to use MPEGstreamclip to convert the vob file to mov and then import to final cut? will the audio work then?

Please let me know before I purchase MPEGstreamclip.. Thanks.

Sorry I am new to this.

MPEGstreamclip is free. What you may be thinking of is Apple's MPEG2 component, which is not free, but is cheap. You will need it for QT (and QT-dependent/aware) apps to work with MPEG2 video (such as that in standard DVDs). That includes, but is not limited to, MPEGstreamclip.

But you have Final Cut, right? Then you should already have this component, so no additional purchase should be necessary.

Thanks for the reply, Yes I do have Final Cut. Yes I was talking about the MPEG2 compenent.. I just tried a free trial on DVDxDV and imported it to Final Cut.. It imported the audio as well but it was out of sync, so I don't think I will purchase that.

you are saying that if I already have FCP, then I should already have MPEG2 component?

Yes, if you have FCP, then you already have the MPEG2 component. Look in HD>Library>QuickTime; you should find it in there.
