I bought this last friday for my birthday and I just now got it today in the mail, I installed it and XP displayed the normal desktop, but it was saying the graphics card is unknown, even ATI catalyst can't tell it belongs to the ATI family....

I tried omega drivers and I had a little luck it recognized my card but installed the wrong drivers for it.
Someone else on another forum got theirs working with omega, if anyone can help me out please do...
Also I turned 28 and I got a job offer to work for targets tech support in one of their stores I hope I get the job!

    Thanks in advance
Can a administrator change my name to MikeFuryXP ?

I have many older version drivers. All on disc, several discs worth, including some original install CDs. None of them are for this exact card, but most ATI cards shared driver bases anyway.

Rage3D forums may have some more for the graphics. Most of my info is centered on the video drivers and MMC versions.

I tried the old ati catalyst but it refuses to install because it said there is no standard vga driver for the card in order for it to continue.

  5. Well, you're in for a good time.

First, trot on over to the Rage3d site and get the detailed, step-by-step instructions for UNinstalling AIW drivers and software, this process is not automatic, requires several steps, and is very essential to perform for each install attempt.

Next, hit the ATI website and start collecting drivers, Catalyst control centers, other components, and MMC. They shold list versions for your card but get one or two each before and after. So there's four components, the recommended version or each and two or three more earlier and later revisions, that makes about 256 possible combinations. Remember to do the complete uninstall procedure after all failures, or you will waste a lot of time.

Almost certainly one or more of the combinations will work with your card, and good odds you will find one that does what you want it to.

If I was hiring somebody for a tech support job and his resume said he took an unknown model ATI AIW card with no disk and got it fully functional in four hours or less, he would get the job.

However, if he bought the card without the dongle necessary for capturing.....

  6. Since it is from a Dell, if you can get the seller to provide the service tag from that computer you can go to the Dell site and get the drivers easy.

    The ALL-IN-WONDER 9600

Hay, I have that model sitting behind me, still in the box..opened once, to replace my ATI Rage Fury Pro card, though I ended up keeping the Rage Fury Pro instead--I had planty other capture cards--and I just like the Fury Pro's output quality better. In fact, I still have it in my system as I write this.

Anyways. The box weighs a ton, sort of. Back then, it cost me $199 bucks.

weMine was the AGP 8x/4x w/ 128MB DDR ram, and remote, version. It comes with DirectX 9.0, 3D gaming and MMC and Catalyst and I guess other software. I've been meaning to give it wirl for a long time but when I upgraded to a second computer system with XP, it didn't have the AGP slot. Course, its not something I would part with, specially anything from ATI and Hauppauge, as I have everything I've ever bought from these and other outfits..you know how it goes. I keep everything. I still have my Dazzle* DVC USB capture box

But if you like, I could have a look at the cd and see exactly what software and versions are on it for you.

Would you please do so ?
I found this driver at dell's support page and apparently they have never released AIW 9600 at (64)MB
I called the seller he said he doesn't speak english and slammed the phone down on me, I hope that was one of his so called employees and not him or I'll snatch that positive feedback from me and he can deal with negative feedback, ebay and paypal.com!!

Anyway, do you all think this will match the video card I have ? I had a 9600 XT pro this summer but the video cards display always displayed garbage and such in under 2 minutes of being loaded from XP.

Ok. I had a look at the CD. The disc is stamped with:

--> ATI Catalyst software ver: 180-V01084-100
--> Pinnacle Studio, ATI ver: 180-G3D051-800
    --> Manual P/N: 107-70792-10 -- copywrite (c) 2004 printed.

Apparently it does not come with MMC unless ATI are being general or was reincarnated as Catalyst. If I'm not mistaken, I think the birth of Catalyst had started with the ATI 9600 series and onward and it replaced MMC. I don't know. Perhaps Lordsmurf knows more..another ATI fan, I think.

Also, both CD's, although the files have (Pinnacle, 2002) and (ATI, 2003) dates, have the copywrite stamp of 2002. So, I guess that means I must have picked this thing up back in 2004

Well, I thought I had lost my ATI TV Wonder Pro card, but after participating in this discussion and rearranging my capture equipment, it turned up right underneeth the 9600 package. I feel pretty stupid

So, I opened the tv wonder pro and found that the cd disc has the Catalyst software, dated 2005. I recently picked that up last year at BestBuy because I thought it was the last one of its kind (the end of an ERA, I guess) before the newer HD carnations were to arrive which they had already arrived on those shelves. Anyway. That's the story, as I uncovered it. I might give it a wirl later this week. FWIW, I did pick up a new Radeon HD 3450 for video workstation, on my Windows XP, pc. That about raps it up for this interesting ATI endeavor.
