What is the one or combo of specs i should look for in a lcd tv. Im in the market for 2 (26 and 32 inch) and do not want to pay more than $1000 for the both of them combined. I see Brandsmart has some very good priced ones, but just really want a quality picture for when watching movies from my satellite, or watching sports e.g. basketball................can anyone help

First and foremost, ensure you shop around and view the TV's that interest you. It's always best to actually see the hardware and judge the picture quality (though it will be misleading while on display).

At the sizes you are looking at, you will end up with a display resolution of 1366x720. HD support (720P/1080i/1080P) will vary and depend upon you other hardware (if you even intend on using HD at this time). The main things to watch for are contrast ratio (higher is better - 1000:1 would be a minimum), the number of available inputs (based on your other hardware), and built in tuners.

Hi there! you should consider looking at the response rate as well. The fastest i've seen is 5ms. Normally you would see 8ms. The lower the better. Try considering the type of the panel being used such as hard and soft panel. Samsung use soft one unlike LG and Philips. The best black level performance i've ever seen is Samsung LN 32a450.

I'm also looking for a great LCD without costing me a lot since i will use it for my room. I'm planning to get one this November so i've been looking all over the internet and research about their specs. I'm thinking about the LG or Samsung.

Picture quality for 480i/1080i sat depends on the deinterlace-scaling processor in the TV. Basketball or hockey are worse cases.

The processor quality varies by brand and price.

Best to demo a basketball game on the set you are consideing. The lower end you go, the worse 480i action will look. Best are upper range Samsung/Sony/Sharp for LCD and Pioneer/Panasonic for plasma.
