There is a film made by a YT user. I want to DL the parts and join them into one big whole. I don't want to re-encode. All the parts are 480p FLV except one that is 360p MP4. I used a filter to resize the clip to 720x480 (MPEG4 AVC x264). I can join them with Avidemux - copy streams. It successfully saves the file, but when I play it in the VLC it crashes when it gets to the resized part.
I thought it's because I use different bitrate than YT, but those 480p FLVs also have different bitrate (used MediaInfo) but they are joined and played back without problems.

Is there any way to do it by re-encoding just this one and not everything?

    Here are the clips:
    480p - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVVVxWbLBbo
    360p - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tEH2KeaUzs

  2. Aren't the 480p ones 640x480? If so, why did you resize the 360p one (480x360) to 720x480? Check the dimensions in GSpot or MediaInfo and resize to the same as the others.

Nope. I guess 480p is something different. I guess 720x480NTSC and 720x576PAL are both considered as 480p. I may be wrong tho...

Anyway. They are 720x480. Avidemux does not let you append a different frame size. That's how I discovered one was off in the first place.

  4. Oh yeah, you're right. Then the guy should either have resized to 640x480 or had the YouTube player do it by sticking in the right tag. Anyway, I don't know why they don't join, or what you did differently when you reencoded. Perhaps if you post the MediaInfo for both someone will spot an important difference.

  6. Your framerates are bizzarre . It reports CFR, but the value is non-standard. Even if it's off by 0.0000000001 , it won't join

That is funny because I have joined other clips into two big junks. One of them has fps 29.917 and the other one 29.918. They join and play back without problems. I tried to set the fps of that re-encoded clip to both values but the player still crashes everytime I use that clip.

    Must be something more.

I tried to copy the streams to MKV container and use MKVtoolnix to mux them with correct FPS. This is teh error message I got: "The codec's private data does not match (lengths: 39 and 37). Please make sure that the resulting file plays correctly the whole time.".

    Any ideas what that means?
