problem with mencoder

Hi,

I have a recording of my tv card on mpg. I would like to convert to avi and I use mencoder (for windows). I try to set a fixed size (350mb) but it doesn't works:

mencoder <filename.avi> -ovc xvid -oac mp3lame -xvidencopts bitrate=-350000 -o <output.avi>

But the file have 185 mb aprox.

Could you help me?

it seems that feature doesn't work.
i tried a couple builds i have lying about.

a. report it.
b. manually calculate bitrate using a calculator,
like vid calc https://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm,
or script an automagic solution yourself
