Using Vegas Pro 8.0.. when I try and put a b&w effect for example on a picture (JPG), only HALF the picture is black and white.. and I have chosen 100%, blend is also set to 1.000, nothing seems to work. Even with the desature FX, same thing.. any effect on a picture only the LEFT SIDE is being affected.. I never had this issue before, what setting have I messed up on? I've tried new projects, different pictures same issues.
btw just tested on a video clip, same thing with them too! only let side has the applied effect, no matter which video fx i choose!

I'm using an older version of Vegas, but the control is probably exactly the same.
You're talking about seeing the effect only on one side of the PREVIEW window, right? You have not rendered this to a file and watched the file with some other media player.
In the preview window section, just to the left of the word "Preview", is a little icon of a dark circle inside a light square. Half the square is white, the other half is light gray.
Clicking the icon toggles on and off the "see FX on only half the preview screen". If you pull down on the arrow just to the right of this icon, you have otehr options. In Vegas 6 (pro) there is no selection to set it back to "see FX on the entire preview screen", but clicking on the icon itself turns it back on.
Hope this is your issue. Drove me nuts for a little while also.
