    No I'm not trying to sell any here, I just have some questions. I Live in the US and I'm wondering if it is illegal to sell vcds. My friends want dvd-rips/vcds of some of the dvds I own. Is it legal to sell them? Thanks

    It is NOT legal to sell any unathorized copy of copyrighted material. The 1998 Digital Millenium Act madates that we may make personal copies of music, etc. for our own use, but they may not be sold, rented, or broadcast. Selling VCD copies of DVDs would be akin to burning a bunch of your audio CD's, and then opening up a kiosk on a street corner and selling them to people. Not exactly legal! If you were selling VCD's of your own *original* films or movies that would be perfectly legal.
