Anybody catch SNL last staturday night ?

They had the artist, Duffy, and now this song is stuck in my head and I can't get it out, and its actually pretty darn good. I love it. I was wondering why Genre it would be listed under.. you know.. rock, jaz, slow love, etc.

I don't know. I got ta playing around with one of the captures I made of this show (m.video), and did some NR to it and ran some test encodes.

I usually follow this path because it works for me for what I do: capture[avi]->tmpgenc[mpeg]->h264[mp4]

..but this time I decided to do a little work on it and make a fresh avi and then make my test encodes off of that one. So far, I really like how it all came out and am now testing different encodes following that path. But I wish there were a way to open these .mp4 encodes into avisynth for further analizing but that is not practicle at this time since the only *stable* way is if your h264/mp4 source is inside a proper transport stream which mine are not since they are produced by x264 cli tool. Anyway. I'm just venting a little.

I wish they'd repeat some of these shows. With all the channels they have, you'd think they would. I had captured over the other video song that Duffy sang and lost that opportunity.

Oh yea, if anyone did see that show, do you happen to know what the title of that song (4m:20s) was in the last video she sang on SNL. It was the last one, if that helps. Thanks.

Sounds too much like (style of) Amy Winehouse. They both are trying for this faux Motown sound.
She's a little too high pitched and tinny for my tastes.

That style is often referred to as "Adult Contemporary", though I'd call it closer to Brit-Pop

Thank you gusy.. I really appreciate this. It helps out a lot.

I'm mostly deinterlacing these SNL music videos to 480x360 dem, and trying to get as best an encode and look as posible and using highest quality set up in h264 for my mp4's using x264 cli and -qp0, etc. So far I've been pretty satisfied with the near-lossless results I've obtained so far .. i.e.:

bring a 1.47g 480x360 lagarith down 200MB and without any (or much) pixelation. Now, I'm trying to see if I can bring that down to maybe 50/60 MB's but still maintain that no pixelation. (The only pixleation in the video would be that of the broadcasters (and dv codec format) and not my additional ones brought out on account of my poor encoding)
