I captured from a vcr, to my computer at school through an RCA video hookup. I have done this 3-4 times with no problems, but something happened this time. I uploaded a clip from the footage I uploaded so you guys can see the problem better.

It is like there are vapor trails coming off of the moving players. Is there a way I can get rid of this? It is very important.

    Thanks.

  2. You'll never get rid of that. You'll have to capture again from the VCR.

If I can't get rid of it, what is the cause, so it won't do it again when I recapture?

I would ask Frank about it. I think he might know. It's all very difficult to explain but it has a lot to do with time travel.

It looks like whatever compression settings and codec you are using. It is horribly over compressed to begin with, and I suspect that is most of your problem

Is there anyway I can correct the footage I already have? It's going to be tough to get the VHS back.

  8. You can't fix it. The only possible workaround I see is if your computer and the one that made the cap have different (incompatible) versions of the codec used to capture. Did you capture as WMV? If not, what codec is the cap?

Give us a MediaInfo screen shot of the original captured file.

From the sample cliip, it looks like the original bitrate was very low and also the frame sequence is erratic.

That is the worst video I've seen in some time now. Frames were being dropped, I'd bet. What equipment is this, exactly?

Holy crapola Batman you weren't kidding!

I just downloaded the clip now. Looks like the video bitrate was set to 100kbps LOL

Nothing can fix that but a re-capture!

    P.S.
VCD looks like Blu-Ray compared to this video clip!

  12. The problem isn't over compression. The bitrate is around 700 kbps which shouldn't look that bad with WMV3. There is some other problem.

I'll do a mediainfo thing of the computer when I get to school tomorrow. That was the first time it had ever done that, so I don't know what the deal was.
