Am having issues testing these files. WinDVD 8 Silver and VLC will play mpg-2 formatted for HD-DVD, either from disk or the EVO files. Both fail when using h264, though.

I've got as far as making disks playable on the Toshiba A-30, but am experiencing a gradually increasing audio de-synch and have more than enough coasters.

Also had considered software playback as the backup for when the player dies, mp4 with stereo plays on the Xbox360 but I am seeking to preserve the 5.1 audio. That works with MPG but h264 gives much better compression. AAARGH!

Some RW's are a short-term solution, but for future-proofing need a software player. Time to try PowerCinema, I guess.
