Hi could somebody please help me, I have a film on dvd with adverts, i have cut out the adverts with video reedoo but i need to turn the audio off at the end when the credits come on because of somebody advertising other programmes, i cant do this in reedoo because you can only change the audio on the full file, i tried cutting the credits off and altering the audio on just that piece then stitching togethor but it wont do that, could anybody suggest another programme that will do this please

    Thanks In Advance

MPeg Video Wizard should be able to do it (without reconvert the video). But I think it's a bit overkill to just use it for that.

I would demux/split the audio track from the mpg you make with videoredo using for example BatchDemux. Edit just the ac3/mpa/wav audio track using for example latest audacity beta. Save as a new ac3. Mux/add the new audio back to the mpg using imagompeg-muxer or add the audio in your authoring program. (All those tools are free)

Hello Baldrick, everything was going fine until i tried to run the app batch demux, i tried installing it a couple of times but when i try and start it i get an error window saying that a dll file is missing, does this mean that it is not compatible with windows vista perhaps ?, i will have a look on their website and see if i can find out, no just looked it dosent say anything about compatability. (Edit) I guess what i need is another demultiplexer app, could you recomend a good one i don't mind buying...

    Thanks Again

  5. Free: ProjectX (cut option), EAC3to, PVAStrumento. ProjectX doesn't work on the frame level like VideoReDo (excellent but $$).

I don't know why Baldrick proposed you to install BatchDemux with VideoReDo while the app. has it's own batch engine. BatchDemux uses old demultiplexers which perhaps don't work with Vista.

I would also use MPEG Video Wizard on a pre-done MPEG.

Please note that such software like Premier will re-encode your whole audio and video hence the quality will degrade. VideoReDo re-encodes a bit but only a few close video frames to cut point only.

You may try free Cuttermaran as well which has option through external free encoder to cut on the frame level as well. However, I was not satisfied with the output quality of the re-encoded frames. Maybe a bit tweaked setting can give better result.

DVD should be MPEG. Demux to video (m2v) and audio (AC3).

Trim off the end of the AC3 with Delaycut. This is lossless, (i.e. does not convert to wave and back to AC3 like most other methods).
Reauthor with your original video and new audio.

    You would use Delaycut:
    Select "Cut"
    Start: 0
End: length of audio you want to keep in milliseconds.

You can also use it to add silence to the end, but I don't think you need bother, the video should keep playing regardless.

    I'd use Reaper personally.
    Demux your audio and video.
Use your original audio as one track.
Measure off how much "silence" you need at the end of your original audio.
Create a .wav file of that exact same length then place it in a second track in Reaper.
Once it is fitted perfectly....drag the audio from track two over(straight up) track one and it will replace the track one audio.
Render the audio to a new file then mux it back to your video.

There is an easier way with Reaper.

Add your audio clip to a new track.

    Track->Envelops->Toggle Volume Visible.

Right-click at the start of the section you want to blank, then Create New Point. Do the same at the end of the section.

Add two more points, one just after the first, and the second just before the last.

Select the two inside points one at a time, and drag them down.

The advantage to this method is you can control how smoothly the audio fades in and out, and you can do this as many times as you need, so you can quickly blank out language or simply vary the volume up and down when mixing in commentaries. Very powerful once you get the hang of it.

I would not 8) as it causes re-encoding whole audio file (AC3/MP2). VideoReDo as yet has no option to mute/fade audio at cut points but cutting on the frame level makes almost perfect transition.

I don't like to repeat myself, but to just chop off the end you don't need any of these audio editors or reencoding. Just use Delaycut. No reencoding. No loss. Very fast.
