  1. Hi,

Is there any filter that can "flatten" colors in a video (by flat colors, I mean like in old cartoons where onyl one color is used for each parts instead of gradients or other modern coloring features).

I cand find one for vdub or avisynth, at least no one indicates "flatten" in their description
    Thanks.

  3. In the list of internal color filters, there are a few like like MergeLuma or MergeChroma that might work to your tastes

Do you have a sample? What format is this? What source?

Without seeing it, my guess is your problem is chroma noise.

PS: If you want to turn high quality video into cartoons you might explore colorization software where Y or YCbCr ranges are assigned a single color. These exist but I don't recall specifics.

  5. Hello,

Yes, it's for converting video to cartoon. I tried the MSU Cartoonizer, works great but I think I'll have better results if the colors are flat.

I can describe a software description but not a specific filter. I think Premiere has a filter that will assign a single YCbCr color to to a limit range of YCbCr components.

  7. Crank saturation way down, then crank it way back up. That will "flatten" the colors. I don't think it will solve your problem though.

MSU has a nice one for virtualdub that has quite a few settings to tweak. I have used it a few times to stylise footage for use in motion menus. Reasonably fast as well.

  9. I already have this filter. I was trying to reduce the colors details before running this filters.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I'll try all during this week-end
