I am trying to play codec video files on Quicktime on a MacBook with Mac OSX. I downloaded the DivX component and the video files will play, but there is no audio. Can anyone help with this problem?

  2. Just a wild guess: Divx is most often paired with MP3 or AC3 audio. You probably need an AC3 decoder.

In fact, Jagabo's wild guess is probably correct 99% of the time. DivX streams in an .avi, .divx, or even .mkv, file are almost always accompanied with MP3 or AC3 audio.

I'd bet too that you're probably having problems with AC3 audio. At the DivX forums we highly recommend AC3Filter, and if you can find version 1.11 even better since we believe it to be the most stable (particularly with encoding).

But not sure if this is available on a Mac, or will even work with a Mac though...

However, if you're still having problems, feel free to post your question in the DivX forums. There's a special section for Mac users that Cortig, the Mac guru amongst us, moderates and hopefully you get some help.
I hate VHS. I always did.
