The Cliff Notes version:

1. You get nothing unless you registered for the settlement benefit by June 26, 2006.

2. If you properly registered for the benefit you will get an email by November 29, 2008.

3. The "benefit" is a one month free upgrade (i.e., from 3-a-month to 4-a-month).

I got my Netflix settlement e-mail today:

Dear drjtech,

As a member of the Chavez vs. Netflix settlement class, you will receive a free upgrade to the next plan level for one month. Assuming your membership remains active for the remedy period, this benefit will automatically start with your next billing period and will appear in your Membership Terms and Details page.

No further action is necessary on your part.

NOTE: If your Netflix account is on hold, your upgrade will automatically apply for the next billing period after you remove your account hold.

That's odd. Here's what I got:

As a member of the Chavez vs. Netflix settlement class, you are eligible for a free month of Netflix on your choice of the 1, 2, or 3 out at-a-time plans.

Only plans with up to 3 out at-a-time are eligible for the free month. If you choose the 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 out at-a-time plan, you will receive a discount equal to the cost of the 3 out at-a-time plan (currently $16.99).

At the end of your free or discounted month, your account will be automatically cancelled, and you will need to return all Netflix DVDs.

Strange how the emails are all worded differently

I am on the 8 plan and did not receive anything that sounds like that.
It sort of indicated that because I was on the max out plan that I would receive nothing.
Strange indeed!
