  1. I'm using a AMD K6-2 500 w/256 mb ram. Also using to Virtual Dub to capture. I capture to uncompressed avi then I use virtual dub to convert it to DIVX 3.11 (divx 4 crashes Virtual Dub). Then I use to TMPEGec to convert to mpeg1. Then use VCD Easy to create VCD. After the avi conversion to divx3.11.... thats when I notice the "pixilation" cause the original avi file looks great. Then it is all downhill from there and it looks pretty sad on my tv. Watchable but said. Is there something I can tweak before or after my capture? Before or after conversion to divx, or is that nature of the beast? Reason I HAVE to convert to divx is that the video is not converted when I use Tmpegec. I guess its in the codec that Tmpegec doesn't like (which i cannot choose a codec before capture, theres nothing in the list). Can anyone help?

You don't need the step that converts to divx as tmpg will make the mpeg straight from your original avi. i did have to poke around the various codes offered by Adobe Premiere before I found which ones tmpg would accept. So you may need to go looking for another capture program.

Compressing only once instead of twice will improve your final quality. Also, if you don't mind sacrificing disk space you can bump up the bit rate in tmpg to the limit of your dvd player. I've burned videocds at 2000 kbps (instead of the standard 1100) that come out very nicely, but they only hold about 40 minutes of video.

  3. As I mentioned above, TMPEGec will not convert the video when I convert to mpg. I think it automatically defaults to the MJPG compression and i cannot select otherwise. If I use the program "avi2vcd" the video comes out upside down.

    Thanks!
