I'm trying to burn a video to a cd to play on a DVD player but the player only plays WMV. The original format is AVI and I've sucessfully converted the file to WMV using Prism Video Converter, the only problem is that the quality loss was extreem, it resulted in a pixelated and los res conversion, any tips on how to get around this would be great, thanks.

It depends. The best quality is maintained by using the highest bitrate you can, and not resizing the image. However most players are limited in how high the bitrate can be before they can't keep up, so work that out first, then encode to something just below that figure.

Windows Media Encoder is Microsoft's official encoder for WMV, and will provide you will the best quality. It is a free download from Microsoft.

If you want a more friendly front-end to it, try Xvid4PSP.
