Trying to play The Professional SVCD on Pioneer DV-C503

The SVCD will play, but it only uses 1/3 or so of the screen?

I had an older Pioneer which would play everything but this one does not
like some SVCD posts.

I just dl this movie, it is 480x480 NTSC 29.97fps 2496000 k/bits sec with
a pack size of 2324, according to VCDGEAR.

I tried playing with the video settings on the player itself with no luck.

I presume I have to re-encode the MPEG to something within this players range, but don't know what that range is supposed to be.

Any help much appreciated. Am I on the right track even?
