What is the best freeware defrag software to use?
I'm running XP on one computer, and Vista on another.

I like the XP built in defrag, but hate Vista's defrag

I downloaded the JKDefrag. It seems to work fairly well. Got it with the GUI which automatically downloads PageDefrag as well. Pagedefrag defrags the system files that cannot be moved while your in Windows. You have to reboot for it to work, as it has run outside of Windows.

However JKDefrag didn't fully defrag my D: drive that has exactly 15% free space because that is the minimum for XP's defrag utility to stop complaining and do its job. Neither is willing to fully defrag the drive, at least in one pass, so I am alternating between them to concentrate the free space. I was enough free space to move my pagefile to the D drive. Its going to take a while but it does appear to be getting somewhere.

Yes XPs defrag is doing a lot more this time around. A second round with JKDefrag and a setting of 2% free space at the start of the disc should get me where I want.

Sure would be nice if I could spend the money for a new drive.
