can't play wm3 audio file

hi , i got audio file .wm3, i got ffdshow, have install codecs installation package for windows media video 9 VCM, and gspot say :
file type : unknown
mime type : unknown

i can't play that audio file, have tried with vlc, wmp
what codec i need to play that file ?

wm3 is not a video or audio file. someone made a mistake with the extension or it's just a bad file period. try renaming it .wma or .mp3 and see if anything opens it. if not it probably needs to go in the recycle bin.

What does mediainfo say about the file? (view=> text)

If you install WMP11 it installs the necessary codecs.

If you don't want WMP11, just install Windows Media Format SDK 11

media info in text mode only give complete name of file & size , nothing else

minidv2dvd is probably correct - then it's probably a fake or corrupted file.

If you downloaded it from "somewhere", try again (make sure your anti-virus works )

Maybe it's a "raw" wma file --- that is, without an ASF container.
Quite rare kind of stuff --- somewhat improbable, but not impossible.
