  1. I have some wmv files that i would like to create into vcd. I have previously created vcd with asf files. What software can I use to convert these wmv files into asf?????

or can I use a program that convert straight from wmv to vcd format (mpeg 1) such as tpmg ??

    TMPG itself.

Except it doesn't work: Tmpgenc always freezes after a few seconds - seemingly it chokes on the sound part of the wmv (and asf for that matter) and virtualdub (even the old one) doesn't seem to be able to load wmvs

  4. this might seem like the long way around but I have noticed a lot of this lately, especially happening to me. I always end up using virtual dub to rip the sound out in a *.WAV format...it's big, especially with a movie about 2 hrs long...and then using toolame from the command line to convert it to an mpg sound file, erase the *.wav file afterwards ( or convert it to whatever you want) then using that in the TMPG option of 'sound source'. Works just fine then
