Hello,
I am running Vista Ultimate and i only use S/PDIF as an output.
Other HD files such as .ts, .mkv, .avi are ok and i do get the right number of channels out.
But with wmv files, no matter what is the internal encoding for audio (according to tools such as AVIcodec, mediainfo, gspot or any other tools), it always comes out as stereo eventhough the tools say i have the right codec and there are more than 2 channels.
I have enough wmv files to be sure it is not a problem with the files.
I use several players. PowerDVD Ultra, Gom, VLC, Zoom, MP Classic.
I tried every kind of solution with codecs according to best practices in this forum and others.
Obviously i am doing something wrong.
How can i debug?
Can anybody put mne on the right track?
Thanks

I don't know the answer to this problem, but if nobody else here does, you might post to the forums at http://www.doom9.net. They have some very experienced people there who work with Windows Media all the time, including one guy who works for Microsoft in the department that creates the Windows Media Encoder.
