That's a help that I would like to hear from experts ... I've got an AVI video to edit. I know that FCP imports AVI movies but I was wondering if would be better to make it a QT or DV file before editing it, and if is that so, Why should I do it, and what is the best codec to work with. By the way, the final product is to make a DVD and also place the movie on internet for streaming and download.
thanks my friends .....

if your standard is NTSC, prefer AIC (DV NTSC has not the same color range than DV, you should resample twice your AVI: 1st to DV, 2nd to DVD)
you can use QTplayer to export to these codecs
