ok, this is my first ever try at ripping a dvd. I used smart ripper to rip the vob's and dvd2avi to do the audio part...here's the thing...it would appear as if smart ripper ripped the wrong stuff. As I started to encode using tmpgenc I noticed it started just about in the middle of the movie...weirdest thing...any ideas on what this might be? it's an older movie (blood in blood out) the synch was fine so far and video quality was good...it just seems it missed half the film...thanx for any suggestions...

i'd guess the disc is mastered in an unorthodox way spanning the movie over multiple titles(smartripper autoselects the largest title). i often run into this problem with adult discs. locate the titles that contain your movie & rip them seperately. append everything in dvd2avi

You could have used cladDVD XP/cladMdec and chose the PGC that had the corrosponding movie length and it would have just ripped the exact movie part you wanted. If you have XP, it would have also made the 'd2v' and 'wav' file too.
