    i captured an avi file that is in french with english subtitles. is there any way to convert this to english?

    What he means is you need the english audio track to mux into the video after demuxing the french audio track. There is no babelfish video encoder to change languages. If you're going to come here and ask for help, on a stupid question no less, don't insult people that give it to you.
