help! How can I download and save audio from youtube to my mac hard drive?

I am trying to download and save a file to my mac hard drive. This file is audio only but when the filei is played, the album cover comes up as the music plays. I just need the audio file so i can play it on the computer or the receiver. Plz help!

Provide more information about the file you're attempting to play. Is it an .flv file? MP3? What are you attempting to play the file in?

It's possible that the file just has album cover metadata in it, and your player's simply noticing that it's there and displaying it.

Thanks for your reply. The only way i know how to download the video is to rename it as an fob file. as for the original file extension, I can't find the info. I looked in the URL, can't find it. As i mentioned in my post, I would like to play it as a cd and the file formats would be in adio cd format or mp3.

if it is just one of those audio only posts
( where "djs" post a song and picture clips
or a black screen image plays)
what I would do is simply use Wiretap or Audio Hijack Pro
and hijack the song as it plays in Safari,
to an .mp3.
Volia, your done.

Use Firefox and the "Download Helper" Add-on. Works great for everything I want to DL from YouTube (and many other sites).

Ade007: If it's from YouTube, it's probably an FLV. I don't think YT offers any audio-only streams, or actually, any with album metadata in it (but I'm not sure, as I don't regularly look at YouTube), so you could well be looking at the video stream when the 'album cover' shows up.

Does UnPlug (Firefox extension) work on OS X? It's what I'd probably use, though I haven't used Firefox under OS X for some time. (Nothing against FF.)
