  1. hi, sorry for openning a new thread but i couldnt find a specific answer to my question.

i have a 720p movie (mkv format) and i converted it to divx, and tried watching it on my new lcd tv, using a divx dvd player. as i expected, the movie did not play, with my dvd saying "resolution not supported".

my question is, what sould i do so i can view a 720p/1080p movies on my tv, with my dvd player, keeping the best resolution i can.

  2. You can't. You would have to convert & resize HD to standard definition

    720x480 for NTSC
    720x576 for PAL

If you want to keep full resolution, plug in your PC to the LCD TV, or get a better media box (like TVIX, Popcorn Hour)

DVD players that play Divx/Xvid don't support it in high definition. Like poisondeathray says, anything above 720x576 won't work.
