I put a double-sided R1 DVD in the tray, closed it, played it and everything was fine. After the movie on that side was over I opened the tray, fliped over the disc, and closed the tray. I got back the "No Disc" message. I opened the tray, left the disc in it, closed the tray, and everything was fine. Can anyone explain this behaviour?

Many players have issues with the DVD-18 discs. I've had similar issues with my JVC and Oppo players and the no name combo player I used on vacation in the Condo.

There isn't a fix and that is part of the reason why the "flipper" discs are used very much.

    Thanks Krispy Kritter!

I normally avoid "flipper" discs like the plague. But I've found that sometimes a "flipper" disc is absolutely all that's available, the only way to get some films on DVD. Hence my buying the "flipper" we're talking about here.
