    I have a panasonic NV-MX7 MiniDV camcorder.

Set up two fluro spotlights, and when filming they make the camera to record dark. When I turn the lights off, it comes good.

What is going on? I thought I needed more light as I was filming indoors in the shed.

Here is a youtube video of it.
What setting is it, and can I fix it so that I can use the spotlights?

Turn off auto-exposure or light correctly. If the lights shine into the lens, instead of lighting the subject, the camera will close the iris to reduce the brightness of the lights, and everything else will appear dark. You need to light from behind the camera, shining the light onto the subject.

So, you reckon put those spotlights behind the camera.

Well that will explain why the lights on the roof of the shed don't interfere with the picture.

    Thanks,

    Will try.

The same applies to all cameras (video and still) and lighting situations. You always want the light source (spot lights, flash, the sun, etc.) behind the camera.
