Has anyone ever heard of a DVD player by this manufacturer? It was purchased by a friend in China. I want to send her some Region 2 disks, and I'm trying to figure out if she will be able to play them (or if the machine will be easily hackable, like most Chinese players.) Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Never heard of it. A Google search on:
    Asicer region hack
returned exactly FOUR matches - two of which were your post. It's not looking good for you. By the way, the other 2 don't have hack info.

So you live in Region 1 & want to send Region 2 dvd's to someone in Region 6

Are they original pressed disc's or burned ??

If they are burned they are region free and i'm sure she will be able to play PAL format disc's and if they are pressed disc's, check them with dvdinfo or dvd decrypter to see if they are region specific because i have bought many pressed dvd's from the UK and they were actually encoded to all regions.
