Hi Lads,
I am new to this forum...Could do with a bit of help. I recently bought a Zengo Sumvision Media player....It is basically a box, but I can stick my external SATA drive into it and browse it through my TV.... So let's say I have a 500GB SATA drive plugged into it and it contains roughly 110 DVD's about 4.7GB each DVD. So they are all now in VOB DVD format.
Problem is....On this multimedia player...Let's say I am watching a DVD, after each VOB file ends, the player says loading next file, which is very inconvenient if you are watching a DVD. Some DVD's have 100 VOB files, so you could be getting this message every couple of minutes. It's a 4-5 second black screen, saying "loading next file".
I have tried to get around this....I ripped my DVD to just the main movie which is now about 3.8GB. made my vobs into 1 large VOB file, and although the VOB file is 1 large movie combined, and is within the FAT32 laws of less than 4GB, the file will not be recognised on the zengo player. I had to rip it down into multiple vobs and it worked again.....
Am i left with having to convert to AVI or MPG now? I have tried a few things like AutoGK, Total Video Converter, Virtual Dub, Vob2MPG but none are satisfactory. Quality nowhere near as good as VOB and the sound can go out of sync.
What do I do next?

I would return it and get a media device that supports dvds from the hdd.
If you don't want to do that, did you use dvd shrink to rip the main movie to one vob file? Or some other tool? -
The device supports vobs but just not 1 big one, apparently.
Ye first I used VobMerge to combine 3 or 4 vobs together. Then I realised I could rip 1 large vob using DVD Shrink....So i tried both ways.... -
Hey guys,
I was hoping I could get a lil help here.
I received my Zengo Player/Recorder yesterday with 1Tb hard drive pre-installed.
Assuming this device would be a plug & play, I connected to my TV but no signal was
received. (Tried both sets of yellow/red/white cables and scart adaptor)
When I push the power button, the device can be heard starting up but none of
the lights flash or do anything.
I then tried connecting to my Pc (Thinking it may need formatting) It will allow me to
access it and copy files to it but the inability to use with TV remains.
Any advice?
Starting to think it is faulty....... -
pajjo - sounds like the player has file size limitations. It also sounds like a lame player. Even standalone DVD players can seemlessly move from file to file without interuption.
stubell - Sounds like it is faulty to me. There isn't any trick to get it working, simply connect it and power it on. Sounds like you have already done everything you can. Contact the vendor for exchange/replacement.Google is your Friend
