I am a newbie that has enough experience to capture video from "standard" sources (camcorder, vcr, camera, etc). I have been tasked to capture output from an older video source. Here is my problem.

I am trying to capture video from a camera that is ~ 10 years old. It has a BNC output.

The manual says it " produces a non-interlaced video at 60 fields per second. - compatible with most VCRs and monitors. Certain VCRs and image process boards may no accept this signal without adjustment or modifications. CCIR/PAL monitors can be adjusted for undistored picture format."

When I try to record(low end digital recorder) or capture( usb2 video capture device) it locks on the first frame and does nothing.

When I record to a VCR (good old tape) it works just fine.

When I try to capture the recording from the tape It will lock at the point of the recording and stay paused until it is over....

    What am I up against???????

What is the camera (manufacturer/model no.) ?
What capture device are you using?

This is a very unique camera. no model number. Inframetrics MilCAM (1996)

I am using a low end Belkin USB2 composite capture device (which works fine *except this one camera*)

I believe the root of the problem is

"Certain VCRs and image process boards may no accept this signal without adjustment or modifications. CCIR/PAL monitors can be adjusted for undistored picture format"....

but being a newbie... I have no clue what "translation" the monitor does. Or is there a capture device that can do the same?... If I new what the montior was adjusting for undistored picture.

    Thanks for the any help.

Inframetrics MilCAM was acquired by Flir.

These appear to be thremal imagers that output non standard video.

It will have a model number and hopefully a data sheet. Does it look like any of these? They have support numbers listed. We need to know output format details.

Thanks for all the help, It looks like one of them, but it is probably a first generation device and not a third generation. I appreciate the help and quick response.

I have found a work around for the task in had. Seems that one of our "microscope" monitors does the necessary "adjustment" and its output can be captured.

Again, thanks very much for the leads
