Impossible installing XP on my compaq c571nr. iastor.sys?

I have this compaq laptop with vista home and vista is driving me crazy!
So I reformatted and attempted to install really neat xp stuff out there like http://ithotnews.com/2007/10/27/tinyxp-platinum-edition-2.itn, but it doesn't work along with like 2 other Windows I've downloaded and tried. Windows tiny works everywhere except this ONE laptop!

I get the same error while installing.. iastor.sys has trouble. ( http://www.file.net/process/iastor.sys.html ) and it just goes to blue screen and crashes to hell and I have to reformat all over again. Same error - different file for other XP installs. It's always ONE lousy file that corrupts the entire windows installation.

Currently downloading vista out there hoping it'll work. Maybe a vista install will work (even though review recommends to downgrade to xp).

I need to fix this ASAP!

the best fix would probably be to go buy a complete copy of winXP pro. reviews say it installs fine.....
