Are we supposed to know what a "lvw-1107HC1" is ??
I don't have google .......... -
It's a Lite-On DVR: http://us.liteonit.com/us/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=171&Itemid=170&lim...1&limitstart=1
If it's a non-standard drive, you have a problem. You could ask the question at CD Freaks: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f102/ They have a Lite-on Forum.

i cleaned the lens but that didn't help.
the drive has no circuit boards only some ribbon connectors.

tvmanmarks - bendixG15 has a very valid point. You should have included the manufacturer in your post. The fact that you got lucky that redwudz either knew what you were talking about or cared enough to look it up should not be taken as proof that others in the future will do so. However, if you feel like many new members do that the less information you give the better, you are certainly welcome to test that hypothesis on future posts and we'll see whether that really works out for you or not.

yeah, somehow the manufacturers name was left out.
you were able to
point that out constructively w/o sarcasm.
guess ignoring the earlier post would have been the thing to do :>)
again i give thanks for all the good advice.i'm an analog kind of a guy living in a digital world. -
If it can write to RW's then I really cannot see it being a bad drive.
It's more likely that the dvd-r media you are using is not compatable with it. -

my money is still on a bad drive.
probably the drive
costs more than the entire unit is worth.

Have you checked to see if there's a firmware upgrade for it? Some of these recorders have a disc you can insert which will update the firmware.
Also, are you using 16x DVD-R's? Sometimes standalone recorders in general have trouble with 16x discs. Have you tried 8x discs? -

but the thing that
has me convinced its the drive is the fact prerecorded dvds take forever (if at all) to load.
also, i'll check to see if there's a firmware update for this model.
