What sort of speeds are real people getting out of these when overclocked? I keep reading about how good overclockers these are, yet the best I have got out of mine is 3.0ghz stable . I have increased my cooling from stock intel to Arctic cooling Pro(excellent BTW). This def lowered temps however it has afforded no further speed increases on the CPU. I am using ballistix memory which has no problem being overclocked (i suspect 500mz is achievable). It runs stable at 460mhz. I suspect what is holding back everything is the northbridge.. this already gets schorchio under normal stock speeds and gets really, really hot when either the cpu and memory are overclocked. Does anyone have any advice on getting higher speeds, without spending too much. My inclination is to get the noctua ncu6 and stick a Fan on it, to cool the Northbridge to Sub-jovian temps. Not willing too pay too much. Not willing to mess with water cooling. Can live with what I've got, if necessary.![]()
N.B. Are any of the newer processors going to work in a NV650i mainboard (e8400 etc) or has this platform been left behind?

Many overclocks fail because the memory speed is not set properly. Set your memory divider to 1:1,so your memory runs at your BUS speed.

My system's HT multiplier was default 5. To overclock my CPU 20% I had to reduce the HT multiplier to 3 to get it to boot.

Wulf109 my memory runs at 450mhz at a 4:5 divider. The memory can def go faster at its rated to go at 500mhz. The only way of overclocking the cpu is by the FSB speed.. no HT here.. will think about it. Maybe leave well enough alone or wait till I have a few spare bux and get the Noctua anyway, it cant hurt to cool fiery little northbridge.
