I am trying to create a divx file from a video_ts folder in ffmpegx. I have copied the video_ts folder from my burned dvd to the hd. The problem I am having is with ffmpegx. I am following the direction on the app's webpage, but I cannot get it to work. It appears that ffmpegx is converting the actual video_ts folder, not the files inside. If I select divx as my target format and hit encode, it finishes instantly - like nothing is actually encoding.

I installed the necessary encoders when I ran ff for the first time....has anyone else had this issue?

Also, I am not set on using ffmpegx - I will use any app that can give my a nice divx file. Can anyone recommend a good alternative?

    Thanks in advance.

For ffmpegX to convert directly from a VIDEO_TS folder, you'll need to select a mencoder preset.
Also, HandBrake will convert from VIDEO_TS folders.

I did have a mencoder preset selected......but I see what the problem is now.

After quitting ffmpegx and opening it again, I saw that the mencoder and mplayer were not installed, even though I selected them last night...

    Anyway, things are working now.

    Thanks
