I read an article that stated that every dvd you burn on your computer has your personal computer ID number on it. Is this correct? If so , where is the comuter ID ? Is it possible to read?

Tom81,
If you have a link to the article you read, I would be interested in reading what it has to say.
As far as I know, only a drive id is written to cdr/dvdr, which is similiar to what you describe, but it only identifies the specific burner used...not the computer. -
That article is not correct. The information is butchered.

Excellent cover LS! We must not let them find out about the secret chip on every motherboard that sends the Personal Computer ID (PCID) to the spy satelite everytime a CD or DVD is burnt anywhere in the world. The boys in Langley will be very pleased that the Central Humungous Aquisition Operation Satelite (CHAOS) is still a safely kept secret. It must also never be disclosed that the chip is what allows Dick Cheney to browse your hard drive while you sleep...
-
And that's why I never sleep anymore!!!! I can't afford to have Dick take me hunting after he sees what's on my computer.
-
Once Dick finds out what's on your PC he will send you to Guantanamo Bay.
I read an article that says putting tinfoil on your PC prevents the government from accessing your PC,you better wear some on your head just to be safe. -
Stick big heavy duty magnets to all sides of your pc case, electromagnets work best, to stop the transfer of such information espc. to burned disc's!!!
One powerful one placed directly on the case of your HDD's will do the best job.....

Great adds!
Every year, at least once a year, we get some propped-up technology journalist spraying about how everyone needs to become an Orwellian paranoid backyard bombshelter building freak. It reaks of TV advertisement writers who stoop to using people screaming and cell phones ringing in order to draw attention to their clients product...possibly they are new to the game or are old to the game and about to become out of the game...
If you are concerned about someone finding out what you burn on DVD's then maybe you need to look beyond a journalist for guidance... -
The original article was from the newspaper on identity theft.
Thanks for your input. It seemed bogus to me.
