If anyone is into this fantastic era of Mankind's history, I'd recommend this new dvd which I just got, called 'In the Shadow of the Moon'. Its new, and it features the moon astronauts themselves, as they are now, in very close-up and frank interveiws, talking about their experiences of almost forty years ago. It really is the best on the subject I've ever seen.

Going to have to find that DVD somewhere.

Be interested in seeing how time has molded the astronauts outlook on space exploration. (I need a spell checker)

I got it from Amazon. The screen shots here, taken from the dvd, will certainly tell you how time has molded their look. I have learned that Micheal Collins is not too happy with autograph hunters, Buzz Aldrin was taking a piss as he stood on the base of the LEM making his speech. Well worth seeing and listening to these pioneers and heroes. The moon footage is terrific as well.

The Moon is pretty far away from us, look at this picture

When it's a full moon, I often imagine being on the moon looking back at Earth. The Earth would be about 4 times the diameter of the Moon in the lunar sky. Also, The Earth wouldn't move in the lunar sky. You'd see it stationary up there, slowly rotating.

I often wonder how those astronauts felt looking back at the Earth. It's more than culture shock... it's COSMIC shock! Mind-blowing!

I wish I could go to the moon. I hope Richard Branson makes it happen soon.

The surviving astronauts talk about quite a bit & they show a lot of stuff on this.

They show what it looked like to them, how they could hold their thumb up and completely hide the earth behind it.Originally Posted by bourboner

D'ya watch the extras also ? There's another so much of the interveiws and extra stories. Pity Neil Armstrong was the only one who didn't take part. He probably thought it was just another routine program. Finally watched it last monday night, kind of wish it was longer, when it was done i was bummed!!!
