    it's down to these two "budget" camcorders.. both miniDV.

    Canon ZR850 vs Sony DCRHC52

    the Canon is $279, Sony is $299. cdn prices (future shop).

    the Canon comes with accessory kit (bag, extra battery and tape).. .Sony comes with none.

    which is "better" in terms of video quality, known issues etc.. thanks in advance.

    Check both of them out on www.camcorderinfo.com - there should be write-ups, reviews, specs tp compare etc. Then decide.

    ya that's where i started.. registered to the forum there 2 days ago, no activation email yet, tried with 2 different email addresses. not sure what's taking them so long! they have reviewed the canon there, but not the sony.
