    hi guys??

    plz i have a big problem i wish u could help me??

    1st: i have HP compaq nx9010 with windows XP it's have a firewire port?
    2nd: i have firewire to usb cable?
    3rd: when i connect the camcorder to the PC, he sees it but it says it unrecognized it seems that i have to install the Cam driver ?? i try to contact Sony but they didn't response ??

    plz if u could help meeeeeeeeeee plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    what you need is a firewire/firewire cable. 4 pin on cam end and usually 6 pin on the other but you need to check your computer port as it could be 4 pin.

    no driver needed. when it is plugged into the firewire port and turned on the cam will automatically install and be usable on the computer in XP.

    usb is for still picture transfer. i doubt a usb to firewire cable will work at all. DVavi of a tape needs to be transferred by firewire to firewire.

    but u know i'm in iraq & getting new cable is hard for me??

    i tried firewire cable but it's connect for 5 min & then it's disconnected??

    so i figure that the cable having problems so i switched to this cable??

    i tried it ???it's connect ????but it's need a driver??

    i have browsing the net trying to find if i can get the cam drive coz i have seen that HC38 have a driver so i think maybe HC28 HAVE one too??? but HC38 take steady shot ??

    so as u reply that's why HC38 have driver & mine don't??

    go back and try the firewire cable you have. hook it up and see if the computer has a "sony dv cam" listed in my computer. if it does you're all set. it shouldn't disconnect unless the cable or one of the firewire ports are bad.

    use winDV to transfer the tape to the computer. set windv options to type II avi and save to somewhere on your hard drive. an hour tape will use up 13-14 GB.
