    Hi,

I installed ffmpegX as per the instructions, but mencoder bombs with a 775 segmentation fault.

    Any ideas?

"775 segmentation fault" is a very rare error. One hit on Google relating to Mac OS, being your post. It sounds like something out of a bootlog, not something in a regular error dialog box? Maybe you can provide more detail on what exactly happened?

I took this from the Terminal output, since ffmpeg thinks the conversion was a success (it basically does not detect that mencoder has caused a seg fault) and creates an output file of zero length.

I am trying to convert FLV to anything but it always seems to give this seg fault no matter what I try. I'm not a wiz at video codecs, I just want something that I can install that will work.

  5. if you use perian, you can convert that flv file with QT or mpegstreamclip...
