No mostly wrong. 1920x1080i is made up of sequential 1920x540 fields but these are processed as frames to 1920x1080p for display using either inverse telecine or deinterlace. Only the cheapest older HDTV sets would toss a field and upscale the remaining 1920x540 field to 1920x1080p.

Note that most smaller HDTV sets have 1366x768 display resolution. In those cases 1920x1080p gets downscaled to 1366x768 for display. 1280x720p gets upscaled to 1366x768 for display.

PS: Forgot to say LCD can only display progressive frames. 1080i must be converted to progressive before display.

David97 - Most of us aren't any better at mind reading than you probably are. What you have done is the equivalent of taking your car to a repair shop and demanding that they fix it, but refusing to tell them what is wrong with it. Why exactly did you post twice and think that it was helpful to NOT post the model and make of your TV? Yet you somehow think we can all figure that out...

edDV answered your question as best anyone could with no real information to go on. Since we don't know what TV you have, we can only say that your TV is PROBABLY showing the video at 1080p. Yes, the TV is converting your video to progressive, but that is complete b.s. that it "takes away the quality of the video". Your friend probably read something online that he doesn't understand if he said such a thing.
