    Hi again.

Long story, but looking to remux a few .mp4s of mine that contain valid H.264 video streams, and valid AAC-LC audio streams. No frame-rate changes, audio delays, PAR changes - just mux one video and one audio stream into one .mp4.

Of course, the combo of YAMB and mp4box will do just that.

However, I keep hearing stories of how these muxers don't produce compliant .mp4 files. Avidemux, mp4box with sync, aspect ratios, etc, etc, just to name a few.

I figure what I want to do is simple, and so far in my testing with YAMB/mp4box, everything works just fine, even in QuickTime, so I can assume all's well.

But I don't want problems down the road. Is there anything I should know about mp4box that could create bad files?

    Thanks for reading.

    nic.dnsalias.com says:

    27.09.06

    NicMP4Mux for iPod v1.2 & iTunes 7.0

    Download:
    NicMP4Box.zip

    Details:

An awful hack to add the required uuid atom that an MP4 file needs before being accepting by iTunes 7.0 when using H264 files with a width of 640 pixels.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, Nicmp4box is another one I heard bad stories about. However, my files are in High Profile H.264, certainly not for current iPods, so Nic's hack isn't applicable to me anyway.

But I heard horror stories even about mp4box, without the hack - something to do with bad headers, or audio delay issues, etc.

I don't care for any other features other than just muxing a raw H.264 stream with an AAC one. Is there a no-nonsense muxer for this, or will mp4box be enough?

Maybe I should just use MKV instead...

    There is a certain mp4creator.exe @ http://ffdshow.faireal.net/mirror/mpeg4iptools/

A third option would be mp4muxer (from Ateme),
    but it is "illegalware" nowadays
