Hi
I need to somehow convert DVR-MS ( Microsoft format from MS Mediacenter) to something I can work with in iMovie (I believe it needs to be DV).
I tried ffmpegx but encoding is done in a second with a file size of 0 Byte.
I want to cut out commercials and burn on DVD, but the source is dvr-ms.
Can anyone help?
Andre
PS: I'm quite a newbie to video stuff, so please don't assume to much when explaining.
Thanks a lot.

On the Windows Media Center PC you can import and edit the DVR-MS file to Windows Movie Maker and output as DV-AVI. You can then convert that at the MAC to *.DV raw with Quicktime Pro for import to iMovie.

Or to avoid Quicktime Pro conversion you could

 1. Use WinDV on the PC to stream the DV-AVI file to a DV camcorder and then capture to iMovie at the Mac.

 2. If the machines are close, use WinDV on the PC to stream the DV-AVI file directly to the Mac over a Firewire connection.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

	hi edDV

thanks a lot. So, it seems that I can't convert dvr-ms directly on my mac ... too bad.

My Problem is now, that my windows movie maker doesn't accept dvr-ms as a valid file format.

It would need to be the XP SP2 or Vista version of Windows Movie Maker.

I've found some hints but not confirmed that the latest MPlayer for Mac will play a dvr-ms file.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

Mine plays it. Maybe you lack a MPeg2 decoder? Can you play a DVD?

Correction: Only Vista WMM seems to open it.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
