Hello, recently I have been messing around with codecs because i have come across Matrosaka files and have been installing codecs like crazy. I believe I had the CCC codec pack installed before, but I decided to do the K-Lite Full pack instead. Everything seemed to work fine, I cant really remember. Anyhow, I was looking around and saw someone said the Defiler pack was good, so I think I installed that.

Also around this period I used TuneUp Utilities to 'Clean up' my registy, so I dont know whether it had any impact, but whenever I tryed to play any videos, OF ANY KIND, (.wmv, .mpg, .avi, .flv, .mkv, anything) on ANY player (WMP, MPC, VLC), every video started with about a second of blank grey screen, then when it played it was almost colourless and too light. In alot of my videos there are black borders on the top and bottom, but now they show as grey.

I tried uninstalling CCC and Klite, reinstalling, resetting settings, everything, but I still have the same problem. Everything worked fine before, I dont know exactly what I did to make it happen...

Can someone Please help me out here, I REALLY want to get my video files playing normally again!!!

Maybe could someone tell me how to completely remove all codecs besides the default/essential ones, ie the ones that codec packs have installed, and start over?
OR any other suggestions, anything please!

gspot has a built in tool for identifying codecs and can remove them also. system/list codecs and other filters/un-register. but as for removing them all, you are probably talking format hard drive reinstall windows.
