Is it worth buying the original manual for my "Samsung VR-2000"?

My VCR (above) stopped showing picture and sound. Is it worth buying the original manual?

How much would parts/repair cost? I might be able to save on 'repair', I have a friend that works with electronics.


How much would a new VCR cost? Also, If I do get this fixed, does Samsung still sell the remote? (lost it YEARS ago!)

I'd be looking for a new/replacement first. .... Ebay most likely.

That's not a special VCR anyway that I'm aware. By something better.

My Sony Super Beta Hi-Fi cost me that from a local pawn shop. Got my Sony factory trained tech friend to overhaul it for $100 and it's been working perfect ever since. Nice unit for transferring over my old Beta tape collection. The real gems however were my Pro-sumer Sony and Hitachi editing SVHS decks that cost a friend of mine between $1,700 and $2,000USD (when Canadian money was only 65% of USD). He gave me the decks when he decided to get out of VHS. had my tech friend check 'em out and fixed a couple things for under $200 and had some really nice equipment for tape transfers....
