I have a JVC DR-MV1S DVD Recorder. I cannot use it becasue of the well known "Loading" malfunction. Unplugging the unit and plugging in again does not solve the problem. I live in eastern Canada and there is no known JVC repair location nearby. I do not want to send it to the U.S. I paid more than $500 for this recorder and it probably has been used no more than 10 hours. Is there a part I can order to fix it? If so, where? The dealer I purchased it from has gone out of business. Is there some solution to my problem? Please email me at bmck@rogers.com. Thank you. bmck(Bob)

  2. This thread discusses the MV1S as well as the M10S. If you know a technician or are handy with a soldering iron, then look inside for bulging or leaking capacitors in the power supply and check if the LSI encoder assembly has the two added 1K chip resistors. The encoder assembly is the same as the M10S assembly. Photos of these assemblies and their part numbers are in the thread.

  3. If you are not comfortable doing this repair yourself, you might want to consider throwing away your DRMV1 and looking for a used DRMV5 model instead. DRMV5 generally sells very inexpensively second hand, it is an improved version of the DRMV1 without the loading problem. You can save money by looking for a DRMV5 for sale without a remote, sellers often drop the price significantly for those units, and you don't need a remote because you can use the one you already have from your DRMV1. Just a thought. Good luck!
